I daily drove it like that for almost four months because the idiot mechanic I took it too at first told me there was probably nothing I could do about it and I believed him because I didn't know shit about cars (still don't, but less so). Funny thing is, when I first heard it, I did some research online and came to my own conclusion that it was the timing belt tensioner, but when I brought it up to that mechanic, he immediately shot it down and said that was impossible and went on about valve springs or something.
